Raphael Passaquay

Raphael was born in 1984 in France and started dancing at the age of 9. At the age of 14 he meets tango and devotes himself to it. Three years later he leaves France for Italy and Spain for tango studies. In Italy Pedro Monteleone becomes his first mentor and encourages him to become a professional. At 19 his steps lead him to Buenos Aires, where he lives for more than 12 years working as a tango dancer, choreographer and teacher, dancing with tangueras such as Guillermina Quiroga, Fatima Vitale, Natalia Ochoa and Veronica Salmeron, who he danced with for 4 years and cooperated as assistant choreographer.

Along his career he has studied tango near great maestros such as:
Osvaldo Zotto y Lorena Ermocida, Miguel Angel Zotto, Natalia Games y Gabriel Angio, Geraldine Rojas y Javier Rodriguez, Roberto Herrera, Damian Essel y Nancy louzan, Cristian Marquez y Virginia Gomez, Leo Calvelli y Eugenia Usandivaras, Mariano Frumboli “Chicho”, Marijo Alvarez , Alejandra Martinian y Gustavo Russo , Leandro Oliver y Laila Rezk, Fernando Galera y Vilma Vega, Pablo Villaraza y Dana Frigoli, Carlos y Rosita Perez, Julio Balmaceda y Corina de la Rosa, Pedro Monteleone, Horacio Godoy, Pancho Martinez Pey, Pupi Castello , Roberto Reis.

At 2004 he gets the 3rd place at the Argentine Tango Championship in Tango Salon category with his partner at the time Fatima Vitale and at 2008 he becomes principal dancer and choreographer at Sabor a Tango theatre.
Until 2012 he danced in various milongas such as El Salon Canning, La Nacional, Porteno y Bailarin etc and casas de tango such as Che Tango, Café Tortoni, La Ventana, Piazzolla Tango, Taconeando, Sabor a Tango, Homero Manzi etc, and toured around the world with compania Sabor a tango.
Through his 20 year-old career he has been dancing and teaching all over the world:
Buenos Aires (Argentina) Asuncion (Paraguay), Turin, Sicily, Milan, Rome, Aosta (Italy), Madrid (Spain), Paris (France) San Paolo (Brazil), Guayaquil (Ecuador), Lima (Perou), Chile, Tunisia – Carthage, Athens (Greece).
In 2016 he moves to Greece where meets his partner Danae Zevgadina. Together they teach and dance in milongas and theatres such as Pallas Theater and Cine-Kerameikos. One year later they open their own tango school, La Galeria del Tango, in the centre of Athens.

Danae Zevgadina

Danae was born in 1985 and started dancing at the age of 5. At an early age she studied classical ballet, contemporary and musical jazz with teachers as Helena Topalidou, Mihalis Kaminaris, Daniel Lommel, Chet Walker and more. At 2006 she graduates from Panteion University, where she studied Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations. At 2008 she is accepted in Greek National School of Dance where she stays for the first year. At 2009 she creates her own dancing group which participates for 3 years in commercial jazz and RnB events, music videos flashmobs, TV shows etc. Since 2007 she has been choreographing and dancing in workshops for large scale Corporate Events all over Greece. At 2011 she gets accepted in Athens School of Fine Arts where she studies contemporary art, painting, sculpture, photography and scenography.

As a dancer she finds her place in tango. She began by studying and later on, teaching in the tango school Baile del Barrio with her first maestro de tango Kostas Nikolaidis. She danced in theaters (Little theater of Epidavros, Mihalis Kakogiannis, Olvio, etc) and shows in Athens. At 2016 she dances at Kalouta theater show with Sebastian Misse and Andrea Reyero and at shows and lessons in Greece and Italy together with the, Zotto Academy tango teacher, Alessandro Parascandolo. Along her tango way, she studied with maestros like Miguel Angel Zotto- Daiana Guspero, Sebastian Misse -Andrea Reyero, Geraldine Rojas Ezequiel Paludi, Gabriel Misse- Analia Canturion, Alejandra Mantinian, Lorena Ermocida, Leandro Oliver -Laila Rezk etc.

At 2016 she meets Raphael Passaquay and they become partners. Soon they give their first shows in Athenian milongas and theaters such as Pallas theater along side with Geraldin Rojas and Ezequiel Paludi and Cine Kerameikos. One year later they open their own tango school, La Galeria del Tango, in the center of Athens, where they are currently teaching.
